Hello everyone
I am hoping someone can help me :) I am struggling between PA, NP or CRNA (I really want to do OB/GYN so I feel NP would be the better route) Well my issue is that I am an MA now but I am thinking about applying to the Accelerated BSN to do RN for a while until I can figure out my path in medicine.
Now if I do not get accepted into the accelerated program coming up do I go ahead and go for traditional BSN? or wait for the next year? I am worried because we are moving back to the States after living overseas for the Army and transitioning back to civilian life...so I need a job! I do not want to waste anymore time, I'm 26 and I want a career started! I dont plan on staying RN but while I am I think it would be awesome to work in labor and delivery and even do night shifts...in hopes I could spend time with my son during the day...after sleep of course :)
It would be perfect if I could get accepted the first go round for the 12 month program but I am not going to get my hopes up. Any advice?

I don't know about ABSN vs. BSN, but I do think if you want to do OB/GYN you should look into the CNM path instead of WHNP or FNP. A CNM's scope of practice encompasses all facets of female reproductive health, so you wouldn't even have to deliver babies if you end up not enjoying it. There are many CNMs who work in women's health clinics, Planned Parenthoods, and the like. It's a much broader field than the WHNP.

You're still young. Give it time and everything will work itself out.
