Tryin to Get a job...

I am focusing on getting a job at a VA either in Atlanta, GA or Houston, TX. I was just wondering, I know about USAjobs.gov but do they post jobs within the hospital that would not be made available to that particular website. When I was at my annual physical visit at the VA one of the nurses was wondering why I wasn't working there and to inquire at the HR after my visit. I did but they were not very helpful and just told me to read the board of the available jobs. There never seem to be a position open for an LVN/LPN at either of these locations and I know they need nurses everywhere or I could just be wrong and they are fully staffed for those particular positions. Someone help me out. Thank you.:bowingpur

Try talking to the nurse recruiter. Check out the facility's nursing position postings on either usajobs or vacareers, look at the "how to apply" information and see if a person's name is listed. That person is the nurse recruiter. Then, pick up the phone and call her/him. (If no individual's name is listed in the job posting, call the VA facility's main phone number and tell the operator you want to speak to the nurse recruiter.) This is what I did, and I am now scheduled to be interviewed for 2 different positions, neither of which I saw posted on the websites.

Good luck!
