I worked in a local jail for a little over a year soon after I got my LPN license and this was almost 2 years ago. I was let go, but they technically called it a budget cut. It was a stressful job and took most of the full year to start to feel comfortable, but by then it was too late. My current employer cut one of my days since they don't want any of us to get overtime and I need the hours. I just noticed this same jail has an ad for prn help. Do you guys think it is worth a shot to apply there or not?

Corrections is a good career choice for future retirement and benefits. It is worth another try. If not at that facility, try another. Keep trying, you never know .
Yeah, I thought about applying at other locations, but the local jail is the only place remotely close in which I would'nt have to move. Like I said this jail is advertising for prn help right now. I looked at the application and noticed its from a different company than last time I worked there (they contract the nurses out). Anyway, one of the questions asks if you have ever been fired for any reason. I was let go from the job at the jail almost two years ago and they called it "budget cuts" but also made it clear it was'nt a layoff. Should I say I was fired from this place and then explain it in the space provided by saying it was because of budget cuts? It also asks what days and hours you can work and says you can't leave anything blank. What should I put for this since I work rotating days every two weeks? I'm thinking just check all the boxes and then explain it to them if I get called for an interview, afterall its for an "add needed" position. thanks in advance for any help.
