troubles with math!

Published

Hello all!,

I am currently working on my prerequisites to enter nursing school. Let me start my saying, I am TERRIBLE at math! The sight of it leaves me blank. I have tried and tried to learn tips and tricks to aid in learning but nothing has worked. I have finished basic math, intermediate algebra, and college algebra. But those were only passed because I had A Lottttt of help. nursing has been something I have wanted to do for years and I am trying so hard. But I have a fear that I will be behind in the class and not be able to pass courses like medical math etc.

Has anyone else overcame this issue?? Like being really really behind in math??

Any advice would help!!!

Hello. If you need help with math I am willing. I can post videos of math problems if you need. Let me know what you think. Take care.

You are right to fear not passing. Completing nursing school requires decent to good algebra skills. It is part of the requirement to be a nurse. It does not matter if someone on here says "you will never use it" because it is still a requirement. And the bottom line as a nurse you are ALWAYS responsible for knowing drug calculation. Try to change your approach from "I am terrible at math" to "I need to complete this task at hand to become an RN" and then do it. If not then you are not going to be a nurse. There are basic educational requirements due to the fact that you could seriously hurt someone if you don't know how much medication you are administering.
