Triathlon training

Hi all!

I am currently training for my first sprint triathlon. I am hoping to get some advice from people about training plans and working three 12 hour shifts during the week.

I work from 530am to 6pm, and as of now, I do not exercise on my days of work. This only leaves me with 4 days of exercise, which I would prefer to have 5 or 6.

Does anyone train on the days they work, or how do you schedule everything? Exercising before work is out of the question since I wake up at 415 already. And I'm concerned that exercising after work when I might be scheduled the next day would throw off my sleep schedule (I'm in bed by 9pm). Also, do you find you are less able to do certain exercises after 12 hour work days? I am exhausted it seems after work (ICU RN).

Any hints or tips are appreciated:)
