Transition to Practice Hospitals

Hi all,

I have just started my final year of my degree and am looking at possible hospitals in either Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane that have NETP (transition to practice) programs. I understand some hospitals are better than others. I am torn between staying in New Zealand which offers an excellent program, or high-tailing it over to Australia but risking a not so great transition.

I have done a bit of research but would really love some advice as to what hospital would offer me the best program to kick-start my career as an RN. It would be great to hear about anyone's experiences, or knowledge on the topic.

Thanks :)

I would ask yourself, why do you want to high tail it over to Australia and have the possiblity of a crappy "grad year"" in an Australian hospital and risk, your excellent program there in New Zealand?

Most all hospitals are the same for grad years, just different rotations and how many rotations and what specialties are offered on those rotations, where you would like to be?....it depends where you have been ''comfortable'' on student placement, or have visited in the past or what they offer in experience you would not gain in other hospitals.

Up and down the east coast big city hospitals, you have chosen, same job - new grad- different location.
