Hi! I attended a 4 year school from 2002-2003 my GPA when I left was 1.86. I have been attending a local community college off and on since 2005 and my current GPA is 3.00. I am hoping to attend nursing school at a community college but would like to complete my BSN once I am finished. Do you think my GPA from the 4 year school I attended will affect their decision to accept me? I have retaken all of the classes I did poorly in and received either and "A" or a "B". The classes that I did pass with a "C" or better have already been transferred and show up on my community college transcript. Should I be worried. I am so scared that this GPA will affect my getting into a RN-BSN program...am I being overly paranoid? I'm kicking myself for doing so poorly early on...

if you are trying to get into a nursing program which looks at your cumulative gpa, then yes they will look at that old transcript. it's tough to say if it will effect your chances. some schools allow retakes of classes, some do not. if your gpa is currently at a 3.0, you have a great shot with some schools. i'm sure they will see that you have improved! if you find that your cumulative gpa is keeping you out of the program, look for schools that only take into account your pre-req gpa.
good luck to you!

Do not show the nursing school a transcript that shows your 1.86 GPA. If you are going to a different college then only show them the transcript from your current school. Retake any classes that you took at the 4-year school.
Can I do that? Won't they ask for that transcript once they notice the 4 classes that did transfer? I have already retaken all of the classes that I failed. The only class I have not repeated in Intro to Macroeconomics which is not neaded for my degree. I looked on the school's website and it's states that you must be in good standing with the last school you attended, be a graduate of an accredited associate or dipolma program and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Thank you!
Thank you. Sorry, the last post sent before I could finish my response.

no no no no no! not sending all of your transcripts is fraud and will result in hefty punishments if you get caught. please avoid that advice.
I have been in contact with a pre-enrollment advisor at the school I would like to attend... I sent an email this morning explaining my current situation and future goals. I also asked how I could improve my chances of being accepted. Thank you both for your advice, I guess I will wait and see what the enrollment advisor has to say...
