hi

I just started my dissertaion and I am currently researching different topics. I really would like to write about family interventions and relapse prevention in relation to schizophrenia.

Are family interventions seen as a nursing intervention?

If anybody has some tips or knows some useful books, websites I would be gratful if you can help me out!

Good topic for dissertation!

Family members cannot intervene or help in relapse prevention without education. Many family members do not have a clear understanding of Schizophrenia and as a result can unintentionally assist a patient to relapse. I don't think family intervention is a nursing intervention since most family members are not nurses, but teaching and educating family members is a nursing intervention. Family education is so important. There are some sites that offer education for families and their role in the patient's recovery.
