To work or not to work?

Hey everyone :D

I'm starting my program in january and was wondering if it's a good idea to pick up a job for a couple days a week ( if i can get hired) lol.

Just wanting to see what you guys think

If you can get hired and think you can handle school+work, I would. It may make it easier to get a job when you graduate, as you would already be employed somewhere (I'm assuming you're talking about a healthcare-related job).

I'm in my 1st semester of the nursing program. My husband is in car sales and because of the economy money is starting to get tight. So I just applied last night actually to a hospital. I'm a previous CNA but my cert. has expired but the job I found is looking for previous CNA experience....not necessarily a cert. However because of school, I only want to work weekends. If it starts interfering with school, I'll quit. But I think it's a step in the door, ya know? Anyway, if you think you can handle it, then go for it.

If you can handle it, sure!

I work 4 nights a week and go to school full time, because I need really good health insurance and the necessities - you know, like rent money and food LOL Luckily I have no kids, no husband/bf, or any other obligations that prevent me from managing my time appropriately. But if I had the ability to only work a couple days a week, I would.

If the job is in health care (especially a hospital) it won't hurt to get your foot in the door.

Thanks everyone for your advice!! lol actually i was thinking if getting a job at Macy's or something just so i can have some spending money. I've applied for a job at a hospital, but didn't get anything :*(

Well if you really don't have to work, I would just focus on school. I always worked at a restaurant up until nurisng school and I find it sooo nice that I can relax in my free time and just have to worry about school. I live on loans, gave up shopping, but its okay!
