I failed a pre-employment drug screen. I don't do drugs, alcohol, nothing. It really was CBD sublingual but I didn't have the $150 to send for the more specific test in the 72hrs they gave me. I need your best advice moving forward. I learned TNPAP is extremely expensive for an assessment so I need a little time before I self-report and that's going to look very suspicious to the board.

Can you contact a lawyer for a free initial consultation?
I don't know if it's the lawyer I called or what, but they said to wait until it's an actual investigation. Maybe I'll try another one.
This is something they will likely take as a SUD. Thc can stay in your system for 30 days. A second test probably wouldn't have helped. Is the employer going to report you? If not I'd not self report. Stop using CBD. Maybe if you didn't know it was CBD they would consider letting you off? The whole monitoring thing I'd really awful but doable.
For anyone reading, don't use anything before a drug test.

For anyone who used CBD or something not prescribed to them. don't drug test. . Plan accordingly if you are looking for a job. Ideally don't use CBD or anything not prescribed.
It was a lab test. It went to a MRO. I think they're required to turn it in. I've done a lot of research and HHS and the DOJ have submitted recommendations to the DEA to reschedule it from a Schedule I to a Schedule III, but I don't know if that changes anything. I read a lot of previous cases and lives are literally ruined over this. They suspend nurses' licenses and then require they spend $1,000 for assessments thru TNPAP. Even the nurses that had no legal history and no history of being reported for anything. This is scary, ya'll. Pray for me if you're the praying type, please.

I will pray. These things usually don't end well.

I will confirm this exact thing happened to me. Over cbd. It wad reported to the board. They made me go through tnpap and pay 500 dollars for an evaluation, drug screens also out of pocket. Then when after they determined I DIDN'T have a substance abuse problem they still made me do a diagnostic monitoring for 6 months where I was randomly drug tested and had to pay for each one out of pocket. You can't have alcohol or any controlled substances even if they're subscribed, there's a whole list of meds OTC you're not allowed to take. And its awful. They don't care if it mentally or financially breaks you. It made me not even want to be a nurse anymore. I spoke to 2 different lawyers and they said the board is strict and you either do it or they will just take your license and or force you to do it. Then your license will also go on probation for 3 years regardless. You can't hold management positions, you can't hold home health or agency jobs. It's bs. I hate it and I think it's a complete comey gamble. When there are nurses who do far worse and don't have to do a thing. It's unfair for cbd or thc at all. But they do not care and they will not feel sorry for you.
