Tips for R.N. thinking about going NICU

Hi all,

I am currently an R.N. in an Emergency room and I am pretty miserable. I thought I would like it, but not so much... anway, I am going to be shadowing another R.N. in our level II NICU to see if it might be for me since I have wanted to work in the NICU for a while now. I am just looking for any tips, as I want to make a good first impression.

Also if anyone else has gone from busy ER to NICU, how was the transition and do you like the NICU.

Really any imput is greatly appreciated :), thank you in advance.

I went from NICU to ER and ran back to NICU, so I'm no help..... Just find a good unit that will give you a 12+ week orientation to learn NICU from the ground up.
