thoughts about miami area

I saw a school called barry university in miami shores, 7 miles from miami. They have an anestesiology and nursing program there, any comments on what is teh living life like there in miami shores or miami. Miami beach also I'm weighing all my options:p

I go to barry university. They have an excellent nursing program, if I can say so myself. The school itself is nice, small class sizes and the teachers really help out. Miami is really nice, the weather is great, and there is alot to do. but the driving is horrible. Be careful on the roads!!!!

Barry has an excellent reputation. I'm a native Miamian and lived there for many years of my adult life. It's expensive and a victim of urban sprawl. Miami's population is extremely diverse. It helps to be bilingual (Spanish/English); trilingual is even better (add Creole). The further south you go, the heavier the Latin influence. Some employers won't hire you unless you can speak Spanish because there are a lot of non-English speaking Latinos living in pockets of the city.

The weather is beautiful in the Winter and unbearable in the Summer unless you're sitting under an umbrella on the beach or dipping in the water poolside. It's really hot from early May through mid-November. Hospital staffing ratios are high. The pay does not keep up with the cost of living.

And practice your defensive driving skills..
