Thomas Nelson CC nursing program

Hello,

I am looking into applying to the TNCC nursing program for Jan '10. Has anyone been accepted even though they didn't have the full points that are allotted for completing the courses offered in the pre-nursing year?

Thanks!

I don't know how it is now, but when I started in Jan 07 I don't think there was anyone who didn't have all the pre reqs done.

But ... you are applying for the Williamsburg class where priority is (was) given to York County, James City County, Gloucester and Williamsburg residents. But I don't know to what degree. They just expanded from 10 to 25 with the new building so, my advice is to apply it doesn't cost anything, plus it gets you "on the list" and prepared for the next application deadline for the fall (Hampton) admission cycle.

Thanks so much for the reply! I have applied so we will see and you are right about getting "on the list" for the fall semester. I am also going to apply to VCU's ASBN program as I will have a bachelor's this year as well.

I didn't realize that they upped the amount of students from 10 to 25. That is great news!

Thanks again!

If my memory is correct and if the requirements haven't changed the prereqs are pretty-much the same, VCU may require higher math and chemistry where as TNCC does not. The VCU ABSN was very highly competetive, 250+ turned away when I checked into it, where as I practically walked in to TNCC (lucky-very lucky) because of the residence preference and having all of the prereqs done.

TNCC is a good program, but either way you go it is going to be a "time hog", eliminate as much drama from your life as you can before school, start saving what you can, one by one remove all of your personal roadblocks. If you're married and/ or have children make sure they understand that your role and the time you have for them is going to be interupted.

Yeah, VCU doesn't require all of the pre-reqs to be completed until enrollment which gives me a bit of time as I am taking 5 classes to complete my bachelor's this semester. I have the higher math but there are actually only 4 pre-reqs for VCU; AP I & 2, Dev Psych and Micro. It also requires ACT or SAT scores which I took years ago. I am sure it is very competitive but I am going to give it a go. :)

I do have residence preference for TNCC but not all of the pre-reqs completed. I take the NET exam next week so we will see how that goes.

Thanks so much for all of your info, I really appreciate it!

Have you graduated from TNCC? If so, are you already working as an RN? You can PM if you would rather :)
