Hello everyone,
I work in an ER and recently there have been some changes. The changes promote the "no patient waits" theory. That sounds great except nurses are up to 6 patients and sometimes more. Mind you we now have a separate place for minor care so all of these patients are acuity level 1 and 2. I'm just curious what the laws are or if there are any regarding safe nurse patient ratios in the ER. We are killing ourselves trying to keep up and at times it is very unsafe for our patients. I feel it's only a matter of time before someone dies due to negligence and one of us loose our license due to a mistake. Anyone know what our rights are?

If your license is loose, tighten it up. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
What specific changes were made? How do they expect you to be in two (or more) places at the same time so no one waits?
