Thinking about changing major?

Published

Hello everyone. my name is Alma and i just finished my first year of college. As i have mentioned in my latest post, i got a D in anatomy and physiology 1. this failure has allowed me to re evaluate my career choice.

Background:

during my junior year of high school, i decided that i wanted to become a nurse. I did so much research on it and the more i researched, the more i fell in love with th career.

during the beginning of my second semester of college, i found a career called Clinical Laboratory Scientist. I went back and forth from that to nursing but decided to stay in nursing. However, now i am re evaluating the decision again. this is because of how much i loved being in the lab for my chemistry class. yes, chemistry was hard but i remember really enjoying my time there. i loved writing lab reports when everybody hated it (even the formal lab reports). i loved solving the problems that came along with the lab reports...

However, i feel like i may be biased to changing my major because of this fail. CLS still requires mt to take A&P 1 again, which i will retake but i dont know what to do...

I have been in love with nursing for such a long time. Pediatric oncology was the specialty i wanted to get into since i like to learn about cancer biology.

I am torn between two majors... :drowning:

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks guys!!!

If your college has a career services office, you could always see if they have the ability to connect you with someone in those jobs so you can shadow them for a day. You may find that you don't like the reality of one of the jobs. You can also then use them to figure out the general benefits, work schedule, conditions, pay, etc, for both to see what would be your preference there.
