I have read many posts about all of you with great GPA's. I am not sure what to think about the community college that I am at. Everyone that I talk to that has transferred to this college complains about how hard it is and I have come to the conclusion that either the professors here really suck or that it is really THAT hard. Even the ones that transferred from this college to another have told me how much their GPA improved after leaving. The ADN program here accepts about 40 students a semester. The GPA requirement is a 2.0. It is really competitive because there are about 250 applicants this semester. They take your GPA and add points based on how many support classes you have completed(maximum of 4 points added). I spoke to the secretary and the highest GPA to get into the program was a 3.9 and the lowest was a 2.7 for last semester. After they took the alternates the lowest GPA that got in was a 2.3. That sounds pretty bad after I look at all of you with a 4.0. I don't know what to think. My GPA is only a 2.8 for the program. I studied my butt of for that. There are so many people with lower GPA's. The secretary also told me that they have not had many (only a few a semester) apply with a 4.0. The nurses that I know that graduated from this college have told me that we have one of the hardest programs around. What are your thoughts on this???

I am kind of confused, are you in the adn program? GPA is important if you are planning to further your education. I have never applied for a job as a Nurse where I have been asked what my gpa when I graduated with my adn it was only about 2.8 also, I have been a nurse for 14 years, and just rec'd my bsn gpa 3.3 ( it was easier). I don't know if this answers your question, but thats my 2 cents.
No, I am not in the program. I still have to wait about another month to find out if I got in or not. I am just worried about the program. I am not stressing about how hard it will be (well maybe a little). I know it will be hard. I am just concerned why everyone's GPA is so low around here. Are the nurses that come out of the program any good, do they know what they are doing? I have learned so much from the prereq's and support classes (even if my grades don't show it). It seems like the students at this school have much lower GPA's than those that post here.
