Testing on 9/11, going for my 2nd attempt

My first attempt was in July of this year (2010). I failed. Ever since I took my exit exam from NS in April I did not open up a single book. For two weeks I half-assed some questions from ATI but to me, ATI is no where near NCLEX level questions. And I say that now that I have peeped into the NCLEX test.

This time, I have finished the Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2010-2011 edition. Finished the book practice test, the cd practice test and I am currently doing the Trainer CD. I have been getting 63-67% consistently. From what I have seen is that anything above a 65% means u have a good understanding of critical thinking and can fare well on the NCLEX.

My strategy this time:

This time Im doing alot of practice tests from Kaplan and a couple from Saunders (not as much). The Saunders book as great content, so what I did was write things i knew i needed refreshing on and went back to the Saunders book which explains it well and copied notes to read on time off from practice testing.

Wish me luck. 9/11 is close and yes that is the number for emergency. Because to me, it is. God bless you all, and for those repeaters, you are not alone. We must keep trying to succeed.:jester:

Does anyone have an idea how long to study to retake NCLEX?

I studied content and did about 500-1000 questions for 7 weeks and I passed with 80 questions. I spent a few hours a day sometimes the whole day reviewing.

I did three intense weeks. I used all Kaplan material. Kaplan NCLEX book, book test, cd test, and trainer program. I took my time with the test, took 2hrs but done in 75. If anybody needs anything, PM me

Hi there dirrtyxris,

I really want to take the time to Congratulate you a job well done. I am still reviewing for the Nclex and I plan to retake in a month or two. I am soooo HAPPY for you! Kudos my friend! I am really hoping that I can master the beast as well. If there are any tips that you can give me I would greatly appreciate it. I am still interested in the materials you offered to be successful on my second attempt. By the way how many hours a day did you dedicate to studying?:clown:
