Tenncare

With the recent changes planned for Tenncare, do you all see it impacting your areas of nursing/places of employment. Here in rural East Tennessee there is an incredibly high number of folks on Tenncare that will be cut under the new ruling. I think it might get pretty bad- for patients and hcp's.

Yes, our facility has just eliminated a number of positions and we're all kind of holding our breath waiting for the next "wave" of layoffs. We're a "safety net" facility & expect to see increases in both ED visits and unreimbursed care.

If all of the cuts projected are made, it is going to put a big strain on facilities like yours. It's kind of ironic- not long ago I saw a news report where a local hospital was complaining about the poor reimbursement of Tenncare- it's better than nothing though which is what is coming.
