I currently work on a telemetry unit in a small hospital. I have been there for about 7 months and I love my work. I love the challenge that this type of nursing demands. I also get pulled to the ICCU from time to time. The one problem I have is that they do NOT assign patients by acuity. I am currently in preliminary discussions with the Unit Manager about changing the way assignments are done. My dilemma is that I have been seeing employment ads for a dialysis nurse and don't know if I should inquire about it or not. Do I stay where I am and help make the Unit a better place to work for all the Nurses or do I apply for the dialysis nurse and make more money?
