Hi all!
I recently signed up for my AAS degree for CMA but then started looking into LPN and wanted to get my ASN instead. I recently learned that my campus has stopped doing the ASN but I could still get the technical certificate there. What is the difference? Am I still an LPN if I get in and pass the technical certificate ?

Yes- many LPN programs are certificates and not degrees. Ask the school this question: "Does this certificate qualify me to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam?"
If the answer is 'yes' you're good to go.
Thank you! I'm still really confused as to why they would stop the ACTUAL degree but keep the certificate. My long term goal is BSN RN so the transition from LPN to RN seemed smoother than from CMA to RN but I'm so unsure about time because my kids are both under 3 right now and my husband has a crazy work schedule as well. I'm still waiting to hear back from a nursing advisor though about an apt to talk about everything but just couldn't figure out a difference between the ASN and a certificate.
