TEAS test V

Nursing Students TEAS

I was wondering if people had tips on how to pass this test. I took it about twice and I got a 53%...and I need to at least get a 62%...Any tips? I used the atitesting book and some high school review math/science/reading books.

What school only requires 62% if you don't mind me asking? I took it twice too! I would only suggest adding quizlet to the manual.

My strategy was to determine which area was my weakest (science). I worked on my three stronger areas first, and then attempted to teach myself the science parts that I didn't understand- which was mainly Chemistry because I haven't taken it yet. Since there is only about a minute allowed per Math question on the Teas, practice doing basic Math really really fast- go over things like long division and times tables even if it feels silly, it will make a difference on the test. Practice your sentence structure and paragraph structure. And finally- I can't stress this enough! -buy the ATI Practice tests A and B from the ATI website, even though they cost around $30 apiece, it's so worth it. These practice tests gave me familiarity with the Teas test format and question styles- the ATI book doesn't even come close to doing what the practice tests do. After you study as much as you think you need to, take Practice test A. Make notes on every question you miss, read the right answer explanation that it gives you, and then make a note to study that subject ( like photosynthesis, for example) and do that for every category in Practice test A. Then go study all that you missed until you feel ready, and take Practice Test B, using the same procedure. This method brought my score up almost an entire letter grade between the first time I took the Teas, and the second time. I was able to score an 88.7 without having Chemistry classes, which isn't the A that I wanted, but it is a competitive score and it did get me into my RN program. Good luck! You can do this!

Quizlet is THE BEST website to study from. There are pre made flash cards and study guides from various subjects! You will love it!!

I love love love quizlet

I used the ATI testing book as a practice several days before the test and scored an 82%. I wish I had studied sooner, especially the science portion because I felt as if it was focuses a lot on chemistry and basic biology (that I haven't reviewed or thought about for awhile). What are you having difficulties with? Are you running out of time? Definitely time yourself on the practice exams and see how you do. Then, go over the sections as a review, even draw diagrams if that helps (I had to draw out the heart to trace the bloodflow to/from the lungs and body). Honestly, just breathe and actually read the FULL question. I feel like there's just so much pressure that we read the question too fast or simply assume what the question is asking. I hope this helps! Good luck!

ok thanks.

I purchased the practice tests... it's been a month since i last took the practice test b. it's been a few months since I took the teas v. Probably around July 2013. If I retake it it will most likely be in a month or so. Is that enough time to study? I'm also doing other stuff but its not that intense aka volunteer and job stuff.
