I'm not sure what the average is but if you look at the chart they give you at the end of the test, it shows how you stacked up against others that took the test. It was a tough test for me. The math was really hard and the maps on the reading section were nearly impossible to read. I took the test twice. I did better the second time. If you aren't happy with your scores just take it again. If you don't have the study guide, it is really great!! Don't be discouraged, everyone I know struggled with it.

i got a 64.1% on mine and i think i was 68. something percent nationaly so im not sure my sister n law got a 63% and got in so i guess it really depends on what everone else gets..they didnt give me any sheet..thank you

Did you say you live in Texas? If so, where? I'm in Dallas/Fort Worth. When I took mine, they gave me a printout that showed how I did on each section. It also showed my national and program percentile ratings. They didn't give you one? If not, you can get it on ATI's website. You log in with your name and the password that you chose when you took the test. Let me know if you have any questions.
