When I studied for the TEAS V exam a few years ago I used the McGraw Hill Nursing School Entrance Exams study book; it was 20 bucks at B&N.

It really helped, there was a section devoted to the TEAS V and had simple tricks and tips to help you in the math section, which worried me the most.

Ok thank you for the info @okami Im

hoping this time I can score higher so My application will be competitive.

I exclusively used the ati study guide. In regards to the math section, I thought it definitely covered all the math subjects tested on the TEAS. For reference, prior to the TEAS exam I hadn't taken math for about ten years and received a score of 96.7% in math.

@rtcnp....that is great...i am hoping the ATI will help me as well....fingers crossed.I am beyond nervous

Thanks

Math is my tough subject. I "failed" it twice (according to what my schools requirements were, I got a 50% my first time and a 60% the second time). On my third attempt I passed the math with an 80%, which is still low but I am AWFUL in math.

I studied the TEAS book in addition to signing up for khanacademy.com. When I signed up for Khanacademy (which is free and an amazing resource) I'd simply just add the concepts that the TEAS had on it and I could go through the lessons with the videos khan academy provides and then take quizzes on it! I also used the Mcgraw Hill 5 TEAS practice test book for extra "test simulation".

I just took my TEAS yesterday and the only resource I used was the ATI Study Manual. Every type of math question you will encounter is in that manual! Practice is the only thing that will improve math skills. I had an 89% in the math section and I am an older student who has been out of the classroom for over 10 years. I passed my TEAS, on my first attempt with about 2 weeks of studying, with an 85.3% overall.

tharper1983,

Well done my friend! This is how you do it people! Practice, practice, practice! Math really is one of those areas that should be the easiest to improve. Once you know how to divide, multiply, decimals, fractions, etc... then you know how to do it, period. Science is tough because of the very wide scope and memorization necessary. Reading is tough because either you are a capable reader or you aren't. True, practice by reading helps but it is much more slow to improve in my opinion. English grammar can be improved but it is much more difficult to learn especially if it is not your primary language. It is somewhat like math though, that once you learn the "rules" then it is fairly easy. But, I think the "rules" are more difficult than math- at least for me anyway.

I am practicing with the McGraw hill book now until my ATI book arrives.I need at least a 75 to be competitive at my school but they only require a 65.Thank you for the information :)

Thank you ladies for the information.I will use it all for good use.I really need to study the math and just brush up on the English...The science part I did not do too bad on.I am in microbiology now.And Congrats on the great scores!!!!

To apply to my school you need a 65 at least but in the 70's to be competitive!

thanks everyone

Thank you everyone for the advice

The program I am applying for requires a 78% or greater on the test! It was a lot of pressure! I scored 93.8% in the science section. Got a good pool of questions, I guess, because practicing I couldn't get higher than 60% on that section. The math was all very basic. No calculator allowed so it was very conceptual.
