TEAS math frustrations

Published

Today I took the TEAS for the first time. I'm normally a stellar test taker but this test was so incredibly frustrating- especially the math portion. It's not that the math was difficult. It's just the time given and lack of calculator that was my undoing. I am good but incredibly slow at long division/multiplication etc. I can almost always get the right answer given time but with that clock ticking away the minutes I found only enough time to do about 60% of the questions. I'm feeling so discouraged. Even if I do well on the rest of the exam (I feel like I did close to 90% on the rest), the math is going to tank my score. I guess I'm just looking for encouragement and to hear others pitfalls/triumphs on this test.

I had the same issue, although I managed to answer every question on the math section I didn't get a chance to go back and double check my answers. In the other sections I had time to do that. I would recommend doing practice tests and timing yourself. The more practice you get the quicker you'll become, trust me.

I got my score and I got almost exactly what I expected- 90% in all categories but Math which I got a 60% in. To be fair, I finished about 63% of the problems so had I finished I would have actually one quite well in that category. Unfortunately, I get caught up in math double checking everything. Ugh! My pride has taken a beating but overall still got an 84% which isn't amazing but good enough (I hope) to get into WSU's nursing program.

At least you got the test out of the way!

I agree with ZoeFrecn. The more your practice, the easier it gets to solve the problems. Search for math problems related to the topic you are working on, then solve them.

Your overall score is actually pretty good. I just took mine on the 16th of this month too.Only got 80.7. My science tanked my score.
