TCC Nursing Program Admission

Published

Can anyone please help clarify the admission process @ TCC's Nursing Program ...??

I have taken all classes needed but Microbiology. I am currently working in Ohio but still have a residency in Va Beach. I am considering going back home to Va Beach this summer and taking Microbiology Fall 2010. Since that means the class basically won't end until the first week of Dec. 2012, I assume I have to wait and apply with the Jan 1- May 15 group . . . I can't go ahead and apply by the Dec. 1 deadline since they won't have my Final grade posted by then?

And if I DO have to wait and apply with the 2nd group, the odds are slim to actually be accepted and start the program in 2012???

If that is the case I am considering taking the Microbiology here (in Ohio), applying when finished, and just staying and working here until when and if I get word of being accepted.

Any suggestions / advice / help??

Unless things have changed in the last few years, you can apply if you haven't finished all of your prereqs: I applied while I was still finishing up A&P2, and I had classmates who went to on to take BIO 150 while in nursing school. So you can be accepted into a cohort...however, you will be competing with those students who have finished all of them before applying, so there's a chance you may not make the first cohort and end up in a cohort that starts later in the semester.

The NS schedule is very intense (5 semesters including summer), so you may find it better for your sanity to take Micro before you enter school. I'd still apply for the December deadline even if you are finishing up Micro at the time--it's not as though they will have everyone picked by December 2nd, and they'll be able to get your grade as soon as its posted. Or if you're thinking about coming to VB for the summer, why not take BIO 150 over the summer session?
