taking the nclex

i am taking my nclex next week. I am studying the ncsbn course and the kaplan questions. are those tools good. I am still having trouble with priorities in nursing interventions. For instance which patient would you see first. Can you give me some direction with studying.

Hi there

Both Kaplan and NCSBN are excellent tools. Kaplan in particular teaches you how to read the question and how to 'work out' the right answer, which will help you a lot with the priority questions. I'm using an old Kaplan text book (2002 - 2003) called "NCLEX-RN" which came with the study course amd which is ALL about how to analyze the question, what to look for first, how to approach each question .. I found it to be an absolute eye-opener when I first started studying. The more practice questions I do, and the more I apply these principles, the better I understand how to read the NCLEX questions and how to work out the right answer if I am not immediately sure.

Take a look here for an overview of the up-to-date version of this book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0743265408/002-0910975-1823235?v=glance&n=283155

It gives you an extract to look at as well as reader review. A lot of people seem to have trouble with the CDs, but the info in the text book on 'how to' is for me, invaluable.

Hope this helps some

Blessings
