Taking NCLEX before CGFNS

Hi Everybody,

I am living in Virginia and wanted to apply to the BON in Virginia, they require the CGFNS. I know that I can not pass the deadline in April, so I have to wait until September.

Somebody told me that it is possible to apply to the BON in NY and I can take the NCLEX first. I mean I want to take the CGFNS but it is a long waiting time so I thought I can take the NCLEX befor and start the VISA SCREEN.

Is that possible?

Thank you

Daniela

If I am not mistaken, if you get a NY license first, you can just endorse to Virginia. Look at endorsement under Virginia, not initial licensure. There are very few states that will actually require the CGFNS exam, and the only two that come to mind are Michigan and Illinois, if you have not been already practicing in the US.

Good luck................
