Taking the leap~~Nervously

For years I have wanted to do this....I have done most all management positions in LTC but never the DNS. I know this is going to be stressful but I function best with too much on my slate. However, save me from constant web surfing to find information that is tucked away in some unforgotten file and allow me to tap your expertise.

The first day they want me to come to meet my management team(small) and the staff. I have thought about doing up some "flyer style" sheet telling people a little about me and asking them to tell me a little about them....then ask a couple of questions such as: What do you like best about working here? How do you feel you make a difference in the residents lifes? What would you identify as a problem issue and what should be done about it?

I would leave a nice box by the door on a table for them to do this on their own.....I am thinking this would kind of give me a starting point as to what is really going on there to try and build a team and get rid of the disgruntled behavior if there is any. Also would give me something to work on for the initial staff meetings.

What do you think of this? Also is there any other tips advise that I should do that first day?
