I am planning on going back to school in summer semester. I didn't get to make it to spring semester. I have 10 pre-reqs to finish before Feb '09. :)
I have a 2 yo daughter but do not work. I stay home with her while my husband supports us. Childcare will not be a problem as we have my mother and a babysitter who will both be caring for her when needed. I live with my inlaws and I really need to have my ADN by next x-mas.
I would really would like to manage 4 classes for summer.
A&P 1
Orientation to Health professions
Develop[mental psych online
intro to sociology online.
Will this be to much ? I know it will be hard but it will leave me with only 6 classes for fall semester.
Also what will I really need to go back to school. I have been out of school for a while and can't remember what I need to invest in and what I don't.

Support from family will definately help in your situation. If your in-laws and your husband can split taking care of your two year old, then that would leave you ample time to study. Keeping up with all the material is the best way to keep from feeling like you're drowning when you get towards the end of the semester. I have a two year old as well and I spend plenty of time after she goes to bed studying (I also work full time, but I only take two classes right now). So if you have support from your family, no I don't think your schedule will be too heavy right now.
As far as what you may need, I purchased a school bag, simple spiral notebook for each class, folder, some pens, pencils and highlighters. Textbooks will be the major cost and some teachers may want you to have special items for their classes.
Good luck to you!

As long as they are not accelerated and run the entire summer, you should be ok. Fall was my first semester back in 10 years and I took 6 classes, 16 hours. Taking 18 hours, 8 classes this spring.
You just have to make school #1
