SubQ Needlestick

Hello,

I had my first needlestick in December and am so nervous. I was poked by a used insulin pen cap from a sharps container. No way to know who it belonged to for sure but I work in a high risk facility (many are addicts- lots of hep C and one definite HIV+ client)

I'm immune to Hep B thankfully but I'm worrying myself sick over the other possibilities. I started PEP within 6 hours. The meds didn't make me too sick in the beginning but I'm approaching week 3 and am having muscle pain & diarrhea now. It worries me that it's related to conversion instead of side effects from the meds given how long I've been on them.

Any words of encouragment or anyone with similar experiences?

Thank you

Have you talked with employee health or your provider about your symptoms? Perhaps they can put your mind at ease?

I'm so sorry you are going thru this but we can't provide the reassurance and/or medical advice you need.

Please take care and contact them tomorrow.
