Sub-acute to ICU

Published

Hello all,

After recently graduating and passing my boards (yay!) I’m now hardcore job hunting. I live in Philadelphia, which is particularly saturated with new grad RNs competing for jobs. Through school I learned that I am passionate about critical care nursing, but these hot ticket jobs are few and far between. I have worked as a PCT at an inpatient rehab (associated with a large health care system) for a little over 2 years now. I received a job offer but im afraid I will kill my chances of becoming an ICU RN if I take this job. Should I take the job and attempt to transfer after 15 months? Or hold off and wait for another opportunity in an acute care facility?

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

Hi, fully understand that job market in Philadelphia area is tight for new grads.

Received email that Long Term Acute Hospital (LTAC) Kindred Havertown, PA, just minutes from West Philly area is having open house: Thursday, July 11 • 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Kindred Hospital Philadelphia - Havertown
2000 Old West Chester Pike • Havertown, PA 19083

This type facility will hone time management and sub acute ICU skills, springboard to hospital ICU/CCU positions.

Best wishes in your job search.
