Studying for NCLEX Exam

Graduating in December, anyone have tips for NCLEX!! I also wanted to know if anyone has taken or is taking the Kaplan course. Is it worth it?

I didn't take the Kaplan course, but a friend loaned me her CD from it. I wasn't all that impressed.

I think the best deal of the century is Mosby's online NCLEX review. It cost about $43 including tax (which is probably different where you are), and is good for 30 days, unlimited uses.

It gives you either 75 or 150 questions (your choice), a prediction of your probability of passing in terms of percent, a breakdown of the areas addressed by the questions and whether your need minimal, moderate or a lot of review, and a "booklet" of about 60 pages (if you print it out, which you don't have to) in a pdf file, of each question you did, what the right answer was, the rationales for all four choices, and what answer you picked.

I absolutely loved it. I had planned to do a practice test every other day. Only managed two a week. (Lazy)

Just took my NCLEX and (I know I'm going to tick some people off with this) it was almost boring. Not quite, but almost. I do think that says something about the amount and quality of my preparation.

I passed. I'm an RN. (wow. just ... wow.)

Thanks so much for the advice & great link!! SOme people say that Kaplan helped them alot, and others say it didn't, but they don't say what did help them. Thanks I will definitely try this website after graduation!! I am so excited about being done with school, seven years is long enough!!

I just finished my NCLEX over the weekend and passed it.

what I did about 7 weeks prior to the exam:

reviewed Lippincot and diane billings questionaires two hours a day and at least 200 questions. longer and more on the weekend.

No drinking or partying for about two months, answer alot of questions. you know the material just practice reading the questions and understanding them.

They asked me alot or prioritizing questions but think ABC.. know your lab values, know your formulas, lasix, digoxin, vit k. bucks traction, trysomy 13.

don't call the Dr. immediately assess first.

Read and understand the questions,

But, gee, while the advice about studying and not partying is pretty good, I'm surprised you would post the actual questions that were on your exam. Isn't that, like, a no-no?

BTW, I didn't have any questions about the specific info you posted....

Well... would you rather have one eye or two? Its a matter of broadening your perspective.

That said... I use to recommend Saunders. It seemed to be dead-on. Don't worry so much about the content review... just do questions, questions, questions.

Add questions from Mosby and you're set.

PS: I guess its not just the questions, but the answers too. That means understanding the rationale.
