I am a student heading on into Ob and Pediatrics class in a couple weeks. I used the Nclex book (Saunders) to study a lotttttt for Med-Surg. It helped greatly. I was thinking of doing the same thing when studying for Ob and Peds. When you study off of the nclex book, do you just do the practice questions? Theres a ton on that cdrom and that helps alot. OR do you read the outlines in the book and study off of that too? I kinda want to get a head start on studying even though my class hasn't started yet.. and I need some good study tips. Thank YOU!

If I remember correctly, Saunders lumps all of Peds in one testable category and all of OB in another, unlike the systems approach for Med-Surg. I found the outlines very helpful, but I tried to keep up with our textbook also.

I always preferred just to do the practice questions. If I wanted to study the actual material, I would go straight to my textbook rather than the NCLEX review book.

get a review book specific for maternity, it really helps...the books are usually small and come with cd's with tons of q&a... prentice hall has a good one, straight a's has one too.

I do a lot of NCLEX questions, but I started reviewing the outlines in the Saunders book this semester too, and that has helped me a lot to make sure I know the main ideas after reading the textbook. Since I started doing that, I've been doing better on exams, but that's just me.
