study materials?

I'm looking for some good study materials for the CPNE. Are the CD's and flash cards worth it? Has anyone done the EC care planning workshop conference? Any advice on good study materials that won't break my bank? Thanks!!

Boston, I bought the Flashcards and Audio CD about 2 weeks ago and am not real impressed. First they are 5 x 8, no not really pocket cards. Also, its word for word from the study guide, without the reasoning. To me, its better to make your own, you are not going to memorize these because they are word heavy. I do stick them in my bag, in case I'm at work and have minute or two to write out my mnemonics and get stuck on one item, I can look at them and see which one I am missing.

But really, I would just make my own. The Audio version.....ugh, aweful....I have it on my iphone and its snooze-fest, its word for word from the flashcards....

I had hoped it was like the audio version of vangonotes for micro....those were awesome.

Here is what I have to study from: The study guide of course (tabbed with everything), ST's Study Guide (awesome), ST's online workshop, a 1 subject college ruled notebook and a pack of new comfy pens to write out my mnemonics (and nothing else) daily, the mosbys which I have read each ND at least twice and highlighted possible interventions that can be used (very helpful to read each one), and so far the biggest help is reading that study guide 2 times. I'm half way thru my second read and I take notes each time thru and compile them. I am loving blackboard for the cpne forum, posting care plans there is very helpful and I try to post a couple of week.

I will start doing that too...Did know if those flashcard/CD's were worth it. I'm waiting on a date still, but I am going to assume it's late August. Thanks for the input--now I won't get them..not worth it!!

I hope you get a date soon!!!

I hope you get a date soon!!!

Me too. Checked on cancellations yesterday and there was nothing! So it may be August for me too, but hoping for June.

Also, just found the chat transcripts for the CPNE chats, I printed them off and just read thru them, some great info and lots of questions are answered (like a tid-bit of you won't be getting an unresponsive pt so no need to check noxious stimulus on an adult)
