Study In Australia

This might be a silly question how mny yearsis nursing trraining in aussie i thought it was three years or 4 years but my friend got a conditional ofer today from one university saying she can do here diploma in nursing in 18 months is this a joke or another form of nursing training wi am not aware of.

Hello, not from OZ myself but i believe your friend is talking about Diploma in Nursing (pre-enrolment) this qualifies you to work as an EN(enrolled nurse) under the supervision(direct or indirect) of RN's. Sadley we in the UK no longer train EN's it was a sad day the government disregarded what EN's had to offer to nursing!

Thank you so much Oldbean do you know how many more years se would need to do to work as a reg nurse or it's best she ust goes for the rg nurse course i feel it's less stressful any suggestions will be appreciated.

At least another two or so. And if they would want to work in any other country, they would need to be an RN. The EN is not accepted for immigration purposes in other countries.

Never recommend a program where you are limited.

I have just started my RN training in Australia. It is a 3 year course but after 18 months we can become registered EN's. I believe we have to sit a separate exam for this.

You can do a Diploma of Nursing (pre-enrolment) at one of many colleges or TAFE courses in Australia and yes it can be done in 18 months if you want to be medication endorsed. Once you have completed the Diploma there are certain colleges, I work at one in Brisbane (Shafston School of Nursing), which allow you to get credit in a university Bachelor of Nursing. The good thing with going this path is that you can work as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse while you finish off your Bachelor degree at university.

I know for our course your IELTS score would be sufficient, our cutoff for the Diploma of Nursing is a band score of 6, so there would definatly be other colleges around the country that would accept you if you dont want to study in Brisbane. This varies by University/College but the information should be on each of their websites.
