hey everyone! i'm starting pharmacology this week and i am all ready overwhelmed with the amount of material that i will ultimatey be expected to know in this short 6-week course. i was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips on learning and memorizing 150-200 drugs. any referrals for specific drug guide books or learning tools would be highly appreciated! i always thought that mosby's was a good learning tool, but many of the reviews that i read makes me think otherwise.
thank you!

Don't get discouraged. There are so many medications and so little time...etc etc. Invest in a Nursing 2008 drugbook (from Lippincott). Try to understand the meds according to the category they are for. Even old nurses such as myself, have to look meds up before giving if not familiar with them. The course should provide you with a list of meds you need to know. Making index cards of some the most common ones helps. List the brand name, generic name, mech of action, side effects, nursing indications etc. Then have anyone you can find quiz you on them.
Most of my students had more difficulty with pharm math than anything else. Feel free to PM me with any questions--I enjoy helping out.

I agree with zumalong, repetition is the key to success in this subject.
