I am new to the website but have gotten some great advice and am hoping for more. Can anyone tell me the NCBON policy on DUI? Will I be able to get a license after I graduate and pass the boards? Or am I totally screwed? This is the only bad thing I have ever done and trust me its the last!

You will need to check with the BON about that. They decide each application individually. Honesty is the best policy regarding this issue.

I fully agree with siri. You need to contact the NCBON directly for their input on this. They are the only ones who can give you accurate advice. They look at each situation separately and do not have a blanket policy. 100% honesty and candor are the best policy and they do require an extensive criminal background check for all new applicants for licensure in NC. Advisors at your school of nursing will not be able to help you with this.
You can phone them and ask to speak to someone in the Discipline Department: (919) 782-3211, hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

I hada DUI on my record from 1989 and it was a non-issue. Period. I think it will depend on how recent it was.......
