stna responsibilty/what do they actually do??

Hi i am maria from ohio, i am starting the nursing classes on april 25th to become a stna, i am considering the lpn classes but havnt actually decided yet

anyways... i am curious , i feel like a nut for asking this lol. what do they have to do?

my mom said they change diapers bath people change bed pans?? is that it?

also i am doing this because i love visiting nursing homes, my grama was there for about 3 months after her surgery and she had a roomate who never had any visitors and she would just talk to us 24-7.. and i have a son so i have to get my act together.,..

my friend told me she quit because a patient had died THAT SHE WAS REALLY CLOSE TO. has this happend to anyone before??

well i hope you can give me some info on this so ill know what to expect

sincerely, maria thanks
