Stethoscope help

Published

I'm starting the nursing program in January and thinking of buying a good stethoscope.....but I don't know what to look for. The prices are all over the place. I don't mind spending a couple hundred if it's a good one. I know there are the ones with double 'tubes' or whatever, but that's about it.

What should I get? Brand names, types, and good online places to get them would be helpful......

Thanks,

I just started the nursing program and I have a Littmann Classic II SE. Some of my classmates have the Master Classic from Littmann. I would get either one of those. I did a lot of research on the matter and found that most nurses use the Classic II SE. It's really your decision though.

I started in nursing school with a littman classic II..... sufficiant for school and a very good scope for the price. about 80 bucks. after I graduated and passed boards I went to the cardiology III.....this one is a couple hundred but is amazing. I would think the classic is where you should start. Definatly a littman though. GOOD LUCK IN SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!

I have the money now and could go for the more expensive scope...if that's the one I'm going to end up buying in the future I might as well get a good one so I don't have to buy another one after school is over. I think I'll probably wait until Orientation (November) to buy anything - our administrators might have some specific requirements that I'm unaware of. But if anyone knows a good place to buy from online, I'd love to hear it. I think the Littman scopes are obviously the way to go........
