State Difference???

I was wondering would it technically matter if I was get certified in another state then the one I live. I have seen a couple of jobs that ask for you to be certified in the state. I find it kind of silly though since people often times move to different states. I'm wishing to get certified in another state due to the cost here in my city for the program. I would be saving about $800.00. Has anyone who moved from another state had problems with this? I would hate to pay for the course and then not be able to use my cert. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Since each State has their own rules and regulations on CNA's you'd be best to call the BON in the State you are thinking of moving to. I know that there were several CNA's that I worked with, when I was doing that work, that had lived in other States and had passed that States test to become a CNA BUT they had to test here in order to become certified. This was a few years back but normally States get harder with their requirements, not more lax.

Call the Board of Nursing in the State(s) you are thinking of moving to and get the info from them. That way you can be sure of what you have to do in order to work as a CNA in that State.

Click on the link in my signature...state registries. Find the state you are interested in working and click on it. Look under FAQ's for that state's registry, and you should find the answer to how to work in their state if you were certified in another state. Normally, it just requires a request for reciprocity (simply an application and a fee).
