what is state bourds like in PA..are they on a computer or written and skills? like are CNA boards here in wyoming

Specializes in PICU.

The state boards in pa are computerized now. :balloons:

They are actually no longer "state boards." It is a national exam that is computer based and is good in all fifty states. If you want to work in other states, you just need to apply for licensure by endorsement and pay the fee.

Quite simple now.

so all of the test are done on computer now? wow thats cool cause here in wyoming you have to perform your skills witch maked you nervous more chance to fail..but anyways thank you

You have to pass your skills with your instuctors before you will be permitted to graduate. And you have to do that before you will be permitted to sit for the exam. :saint:

Are you planning to take nursing boards NCLEX-PN or are you a student planning to take the CNA state exam? The CNA exam is different, I'm sure it's still given as a written with three randomly selected skills. Really, it's no biggie!

well i completed a CNA couse in wyoming but 4 got alot of the stuff cause are teacher went really fast...im plannin on moving to Indiana PA and getting into the 2 year associate RN but im gonna get my LPN so i can work while finishing RN in PA and was thinking about trying to get lisenced in PA for CNA while i was becomig an LPN but my class was here so i only have a certificatre and i cant pass state board i think...i know i could od writen but its also perform 5 skills and im not good enough at them to do that like..i can do some..but making occupied bed i cant or transfer, or peri care or catheter or getting weight in one of those manual thingys , transfers, passive range of motion, and i know the rest but i dont think i could pass if i got those skills nad they pick 5 here

I know it used to be three skills, and one was guaranteed to be hand-washing! My other two were temp taking and....?? But that was years ago! I see it is 5 now.

Did you go to http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health/cwp/view.asp?A=188&Q=200721&healthRNavrad73550=|#

in PA a certification is usually only required for nursing homes and LTC units in hospitals. You should be able to find a job as an aide in a hospital if you have some experience or will go through their program.
