Starting school...need to vent

Published

Hello all!

I've worked in a Level II trauma center in Washington for a year and a half, and am starting school in August. I get teased at work all the time for asking for call-off for low census. I'm tired of wiping poo all the time (like I've seen from other posts! ) I'm the LC queen! Just counting down shifts, and wondering if any of you are as tired of your current work as I am, and never want to see another ETOH/drug use/COPD TBI again. :stone

Only 14 more shifts!!! :balloons:

I worked my local for a year and a half during nursing school. Even floating the hospital for a few weeks after graduation is enough to reinforce the fact that I am glad for a change of pace. Do not feel bad for wanting to move forward in your life. :D I'm absolutely ecstatic to be moving to a new hospital soon.

I assure you that I am just as fed up as you are. Unfortunately I am/was the main provider in the household, so i couldn't get called off all the time. Other than that I would surely do it! Don't feel bad for wanting to move on. Everyone gets short timers syndrome. I was supposed to work till the end of July but with the way things were/are going at the hospital I am at i have decided to make this week my last week. 3 more shifts to go! Whewwwww!:balloons: Good luck and I am glad to see someone else post about what I have been feeling for a while!

never want to see another ETOH/drug use/COPD TBI again. :stone

You will see them again, from a whole different vantage point.:)

My last shift was saturday. I am now officially unemployed (pretty scary). I am taking sometime to work around the house and to hang with the kids before moving into the dorms at TWU. I am glad to be moving on but scared sh**less.

I am also counting down the shifts.....7 more after today....even less if I can get off low census.....I will take any and all!

I will be heading to TWU this fall.

Graduating anesthesia school in 6 weeks - I never quit working during school (I don't recommend that to ANYONE). Believe me, I sympathize with you and look forward to only 12 more shifts before graduation (these 24-hour Fridays are killers)...

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

I am sick of mine too although it is not healthcare related. I do think change is good and like another poster mentioned...do not feel bad for wanting to better your career or move on to better things. Congratulations
