specialty enquiry

hi, im a registered nurse here in the philippines and i want to go further by taking up specialty as a dialysis nurse. Where can i have my schooling that is accredited in the u.s also, thanks.

There are several facilities that offers dialysis training with a fee for nurses like PKDF, NKTI, BRAUN etc. But accredited in the US, I dont think so. Even if they will claim to be one. To be a certified dialysis nurse(CDN) or certified nephrology nurse(CNN) in the US, one must have the following in order to be eligible to take the test:

1. The applicant must hold a full and unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the United States, or its territories.
   
2. The applicant must have a minimum of two years of nephrology nursing experience as a registered nurse in a clinical staff (to include advance practice), administrative, teaching, or research capacity, within three years prior to submitting this application.
   
3. In meeting criterion #2, the applicant must have spent at least fifty percent of employment hours in nephrology nursing.
   
4. The applicant must possess a Baccalaureate in Nursing or a Master's in Nursing Degree.
   
5. The applicant must have completed thirty contact hours of approved continuing education credit in nephrology nursing within three years prior to submitting this application.
   

Once you passed the 200 items exam. You will earn the title of CDN or CNN

Note: You can still be employed/work as a dialysis nurse in the US even without this certification.
