SPC or PCC?

Hi guys,

Many of you know I plan on moving to Florida this upcoming summer (that is if I can get hired :chuckle )

Anyway...the two schools that stand out for me are SPC/PCC. Can you give me the pros/cons of each school? I would be attending a LPN to RN program.

I would love to live in St. Petersburg, but I'm not sure yet if any of the hosptials would hire a new grad LPN.

LRMC will hire a new grad, and I could go to PCC, but I don't know too much about the area. When I visited FL last spring, we focused on St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Brandon. Someone suggested LRMC as a place to work, but we never got a chance to visit Lakeland.

Any tips?

I can not give you much information on PCC or Lakeland for that matter. But, I have had a number of friends graduate from SPCC and they said the program for LPN to RN was wonderful. They felt very challenged and like they had learned a great deal. All of my friends passed their boards without any trouble. Good luck.

SPC sounds good to me from the little bit of information I can get on it. I'm just not sure how many St. Pete hospitals will hire a new grad LPN. LRMC will hire one...but...I'd much rather live in St. Petersburg.

Here in MN, I was told I would have a better chance of getting in as a bridge student versus a regular LPN student, because of the number of applicants.

Do you know if the SPC wait list is just as long for the bridge progam as it is for the regular RN student?

I am a recent graduate of the SPC LPN/RN bridge program. If I were you I would check both colleges for the pre-requisites as they are required even with the bridge program. I am now in the BSN program at SPC and am glad I went to this college. It has been challenging but well worth it. Feel free to email me for more info. Good luck
