I'm an officer for my school's SNA chapter. We provide NCLEX study resources, sponsor trips to NSNA conferences, provide free printing for nursing students in our nursing computer lab and other assorted things. We don't have recruitment issues though, every nursing student is automatically a member of the SNA (it's part of their student activity fee)....the SNA is our student government.
Peace,

I know my chapter (of which I am not an officer, but might be in a future semester) does the Carnival of Clubs at my school. I'm not sure if all schools have one of those, but it was kind of neat. Every club and org had a table, with information and whatnot. It's a helpful recruitment tool - students can see who we are and what we do (which includes all kinds of fundraising, local health initiatives, informational boards around school and the like).
Meeting times are generally worked out between members, and set up to interfere with as few classes as possible. It doesn't always work out - someone's always excluded because of school scheduling - but we do the best we can, and minutes are available, as well as email addresses for members who did attend.

At my school, if you attend every meeting and participate in 2 events ie. bake sale, raise money for poor, blood drive etc. you get 2 points toward your nursing theory class. This can't make you pass, but it can bump you from a B to and A for example. Believe me, that really motivates membership.
Thank you so much for responding, a lot of things your respective chapters do are becasue you have everyone involved, but at my school we are strictly a club, not a part of SGA and we can't add pts to a theory class for participation. Although that very original. Have any of you been to the Midyear or National convention?? I am trying to get things in place for my chapter to attend Nationals, but we have never been before.
