Smartphone/Blackberry

Anyone use Treo Smartphones, Blackberries or other similar devices to replace Palm Pilots and pagers in their group? I was wondering if any groups/departments have invested in buying products like this for all their MDAs/CRNAs/AAs to replace pagers and provide PDAs at the same time.

One problem with them is that it depends on where your OR is located, and how it was built..........you may not get good reception............I would check that out first.

Like the poster above, the reception really depends on the provider you choose. I know that I use my Treo smartphone every hospital I go to (travelling nurse) and I'd feel naked without it.

Rumor has it that my old employer purchased Treos for the emergancy medicine staff, with the plan to roll them out to the hospitalists. I don't know if that went through, though.
