Single mom..Nursing school

Hello Everyone,

I'm reaching out for good advice on some things I should look into that will help me. I separated from husband living on my own w/ my 2 year old daughter in a small 1b/1b apt. I'm working at the bank, but want to go back to school so bad to be a nurse. I want to start out with a program that is one year. My options are LPN or Surgical Tech.

My question is how do you single moms make ends meet while dedicating so much time to school with no support system? I use to get food stamps, wic etc. but with working at the bank I'm over the income requirements. I'm also not eligible for a childcare voucher either. Only help I get from the state is Medicaid for baby and I.

What kind of jobs out there do you single mom do while in school to still be able to provide a roof your families head. Any advice is helpful....

Help? Please?

If your program is too intense for a job, your options are financial aid and outside scholarships. Be aware that there are nursing scholarships. Apply for them, all of them. A scholarship applicant makes much more per hour than someone working at a bank. If you can work, do so. Not only will it help finances during school, but also job prospects.

I get a ton of scholarships and grants that pay for my life. Whatever isnt covered, I get student loans for. Am I in debt? Yes. Will I have a great career that will enable me to pay it off? Yes. A local CC will save you an absurd amount of money vs private school. If you were able to get a job at your local hospital instead of the bank, they often will contribute to school.
