So I have been looking for a job to work from home for awhile. I have an 8 month old son & my husband world & is gone for 2 weeks & home for 1 week. I found a posting online through United Health Group but now I don't know if I should apply. I've missed working & want to work so bad but I'm torn.

My husband makes decent money but I would like to contribute. I could see the upsides & down sides. Anyone work for UHG? Anyone work from home with a little one?

What type of job is it?

I would urge you to be cautious. If you are under the impression that you could work from home in order to care for your child at the same time, it is probably not feasible. No employer is going to pay you to take care of your own child. "Work from home" positions generally have very tight and challenging productivity expectations. If you are doing any tele-communications, you will have continuous supervision; monitoring calls and productivity. You'll be expected to be fully present during work hours... not something that would be easy to do while responding to an infant at the same time. If you're doing chart reviews or other admin/clerical work, you may be on a "piece rate" compensation rather than paid by the hour. Some of these jobs are pretty grueling and have little to no benefits such as vacation, sick time, etc.

A hiatus from clinical work could also have an impact upon your future employability - it's hard to get back in the saddle after taking a very long break. On the other hand, if you aren't really keen to return to clinical nursing, this new job may provide you with experience in a different direction entirely... and one that would be great for you in the long run.

It is a telephonic service coordinator job.

I really do miss working & adding to the income wouldn't hurt either.
