Well, I finished up the first year of my front loaded program last Friday and took the SEE yesterday. I finished the year strong and I felt really good going into it. I came out of there feeling like I had never taken a science or anesthesia class! Do any of you have experience with it? How long will it
take to get my grade? I've got about 1 week before I move to Ohio for the 18 month clinical phase of my program. I hate to think that my clinical site instructors first opinion of me will be formed by my SEE grade. Anyway, just had to vent.

I scheduled the SEE exam for August (figured I would get through my first set of clinicals). Any points of wisdom would be great. How much Principles of Anesthesia is on the exam? I am restudying chem and physics and hitting A&P but not sure how much morgan or Nag & zag I should be studying.
Thanks

I took the SEE exam several months ago....whew! I thought it was very hard, it was along the lines of medical board review exams that anesthesia residents take as I have a few of those texts. The good news is, I didnt do any extra studying and "passed". It just compares you to the national standard, you dont actually get a score. I passed with average in about 5 to below average in 2 areas. The weird thing is that half of my class did not pass!, they just had to retake another exam. I question what the test actually reflects, your school or your test taking abilities as a few of the folks that did not pass in my class are academically "smarter" than myself, even 1 being a NP! It took about 3 weeks, results were in the mail, i got them before my program director did, and i believe it was purely for her information, no other instructor ever even mentioned them. Also, i think this exam is (forgot the word), but it hones in on your weaknesses, as I had a lot of questions on legalities and endocrinology.....hate it. Dont worry, especially if you are frontloaded, i guarantee you did better than you think.
Thanks for the reply. My program is frontloaded, and I have done great in the program. We also get a lot of simulator time. I felt really good going into the SEE, but it sucked. Hopefully I did do better than I think I did. I guess I'll see in about 1-2 more weeks. I start my clinical phase on June 5th. Looking forward to it, but also pretty nervous. Thanks again.

Can you all share what you did to study, and if you felt your preparation was adequate. I am at the point to start SEE prep, and as I sit here with six books I feel I must read cover to cover, I am feeling somewhat overwhelmed...
Also, how did you do class work at the same time?
Thanks for any words of wisdom!
Well, I did not really study anything. My finals were on a Friday and I took the exam 5 days later. I looked over some old notes, but can't really say that I studied. I got my scores today. I'm pretty disappointed with my scores in a couple of areas, pleased in a couple of others. But having said that, I'm not really sure what is a good or bad score is on this test. Oh well, I'm sure my clinical site director will let me know when I report in a couple weeks.
Thanks for sharing your experience...I know the type A in me will have me doing lots of studying...just need some direction from those who have recently had the experience...come on folks...share what you did, and what you thought about the test...
