  1. It is a PIA and costly to get a NJ license, and extremely unreasonable for a school to even request before you are offered seat in class. I have 6 different state licenses and NJ by far was the most expensive...a little over $300 for the initial license...a waste if you will never use it. Plus, to even get the license, you have to fingerprint at one of these specific in state agencies...if you live nowhere in area, it is even more impractical. To me this a a crock...just some lame hoop a school wants you to jump...you are not a circus animal...consider other programs as well.
  2. asap-inc.com Go to "search by catergory" (upper R maroon colored tab) Scroll to "regional anesthesia" Choose nerve stimulators until the list of 4 items shows up. First item, the MiniStim IV is what I have and what is standard for our purposes. I got mine from this company (it comes with balls and wires)...we tried to get em from drug reps, but were told they no longer had em...don't know if that's true, but it has been about a year and I have not seen any given as freebees. Later
  3. You can only consolidate your federal loans. You cannot consolidate personal loans, such as a loan from Sallie Mae or Citibank, etc, with the federal loans. It will not hurt to consolidate now. The only loss is the 6 mo grace period of deferment once you graduate, but you will be making enough to make these initial payments.

  5. I am on my heart rotation right now and it is great. They do 2-3 hearts a day (on and off pump), but as of lately it has been three. Only paired with MDA, and the whole experience has been very autonomous. They come in for induction, to peek at TEE, and for coming off pump (but to guide...not hip check)...otherwise the show is yours. We are expected to do it all and to know what we are doing. It is a great experience so far...it will be hard going to back to primary site and being told what to do again, but it will be nice not to wake up at 0340. While we are talking about hearts, I wanted to ask everyone what there practice is for how they administer Amicar...bolus or gtt? I have seen different things and wanted to figure out the norm.
  6. did you look at the above site...could it have just been this laminated page that has all the same info mounted on a clipboard...i have looked for the same thing in the past with no success...good luck and let us know if you find anything.
  7. Staples have the clipboard c calc and you can tape this to it...accrs.com This is the best I can think of...
  8. Wow, it never occurred to me someone would be stupid enough to attempt to acquire such practice questions for the sole purpose of memorization and have faith that it is the current board questions. I was mostly interested in it being practice, and just that. Of greatest importance I was interested in the question type/format, rather than content. I know what content needs to be covered and that is pretty much EVERYTHING...not a bank of random questions. I did a short few minute search online and did not find anything useful...and I am not interested in preforming some exhaustive search as my time is better spent elsewhere. Thanks anyway... :monkeydance:
  9. Tranman...where are these practice questions found?
  10. Thanks for sharing your experience...I know the type A in me will have me doing lots of studying...just need some direction from those who have recently had the experience...come on folks...share what you did, and what you thought about the test... Thanks
  11. Is there such a thing as one state being more "CRNA friendly" than others? I would think this alone varies within a state, or even city, from one hospital to another. In the same city, the CRNAs at hospital A may be very autonomous and practice a broad variety of anesthetics, and at hospital B down the road they are not permitted to do jack. It's probably best to spend some days in the OR of a prospective employer and talk face to face with their current CRNAs. You can be treated like crap anywhere and by anyone (I know that sounds bad, but it is kinda true).
  12. Can you all share what you did to study, and if you felt your preparation was adequate. I am at the point to start SEE prep, and as I sit here with six books I feel I must read cover to cover, I am feeling somewhat overwhelmed... Also, how did you do class work at the same time? Thanks for any words of wisdom!
  13. Hello Everyone!!! I want to start a discussion related to the type of first job a GRNA should take fresh out of school. Although I am not entirely sure since I am still in school, I kind of feel as though I like the ambulatory surgery type of environment is what I like the most. I have heard people say you should work in a Level 1 trauma doing hearts and call, etc, but in the back of my mind I don't see the purpose of doing something "just because," and not because it makes you happy. If some of you advice to get a more intense job for experience, then how long does a newbie need to get experience for? Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks
  14. What states are AAs practicing in?
